Using Virtual Drumline 2.5 in Finale 2009 gives you ultimate control over your music notation while providing
ultra-realistic VDL percussion playback. To get the best mileage from
these advanced music creation tools, it's important to use staves that contain
percussion maps corresponding to the layout of Virtual Drumline's advanced
key-mapping. The files included in this package will give you everything
you need to get up-and-running with VDL and Finale 2009.
Please note, this item is downloadable
only and is being sold as a single-user
license. What this means is that you are welcome to use the included
files on any of your projects (without needing to re-purchase the template),
but they are not allowed to be shared with other users who haven't also purchased
the template. For a complete listing of the licensing terms, please visit our
licensing page. For an explanation on our
decision to charge for this template, please read this letter
from Jim Casella.
Included in the VDL Templates for Finale 2009:
- Finale 2009 Templates for VDL (version 1 & 2) - These
are blank Finale files which contain a basic percussion score layout, with a
complete library of percussion maps that correspond to the mapping of Virtual
Drumline (accessible, customizeable, and assignable within each staff's attributes
window
using the Staff Tool.)
- Indoor & Outdoor Templates - These are
just two different flavors of the same set of staves assigned in each default
score. The indoor template places battery staves at the top of the score.
The outdoor template places battery staves at the bottom of the score.
- Built-in Text Expressions are now available for a variety of
VDL Expression Categories. What this means is that you can
now easily manipulate some of VDL's advanced playback functions which use
keyswitching or mod-wheel controls (i.e. regular mallets to puffies, snares
at edge, etc) by simply assigning one of the pre-designed text expressions
in the template.
- Finale 2009 Template READ ME- This is a quick
"getting started" guide on the basic functions of the files included
in this package.
- VDL 2.5 Percussion Map Libary for Finale - By
importing this file into scores that weren't created using the VDL template,
you'll have access to the full suite of percussion maps available within
the default template files. This can be very helpful if collaborating with
other Finale users who aren't using VDL.
Please note: The development of this template
package has taken a significant amont of time. With the recent release of
Finale 2010, there will be forthcoming changes to how the percussion notation
and VDL templates work in conjunction with some of Finale 2010's new features,
including a different format for percussion mapping. We are working toward
developing a suite of VDL templates for Finale 2010 which will become available
for purchase at a later date. The percusion maps in these 2009 files may
not be compatible in Finale 2010. You may still purchase/upgrade to Finale
2010 and use it as you have in the past, but until new officially supported
Tapspace VDL maps/templates are constructed, there may be some unknown issues.
